The following is just a sampling of the many programs the Greek community at the University of Minnesota participates in: Feed My Starving Children: A nonprofit organization dedicated to helping needy children across the world, the Greek community at the U of M helps by volunteering one of its most precious commodities: time. Greek Awards: Showcasing the best and brightest fraternities and sororities, two of the Greek Awards categories include Outstanding Community Service and Outstanding Academics. Greek Speaker: Members get a chance to hear presentations designed to enrich the Greek community as a whole while also bettering each member personally. Greek Weekend: Students, faculty and alumni come together this weekend to participate in philanthropic efforts. We serve to help. We serve to better ourselves. Health Advocates: A Health Advocate (HA) is a student appointed as a health resource in his or her residence hall, fraternity, or sorority. Health Advocates attend class every Tuesday from 2:45 - 4:45 p.m. at Boynton Health Service, where they are trained to respond to common health-related issues. HAs share information and prevention strategies with other students in their hall or house. HAs also refer students to other health resources on campus. More information about Health Advocates is available at: http://www.bhs.umn.edu/HA/ Intramurals: From basketball to broomball to football to softball, participating in intramurals is just one way for the Greek community to let off some steam through friendly competition. Junior Panhellenic Council: The JPHC is composed of members that were initiated within the past year. This council is responsible for planning social and philanthropic events geared toward all incoming classes within the Panhellenic Council. Order of Omega: Providing community service and leadership development programs for the Greek community, the Order of Omega is an honor society for Greek members who have achieved a high standard of leadership in Greek activities. Rho Lambda: Rho Lambda, the National Sorority Leadership Society, honors women within the Greek community who have exhibited the highest qualities of leadership and service to their Greek community and sororities.
