MORE ABOUT US
The Greek community is an integral part of the University of Minnesota and with all of the opportunities going Greek has to offer, it’s no surprise that over 1,200 students choose the Greek community in order to become their best. Leadership, scholarship, service and community are the four fundamental principles Greek members live by.

LEADERSHIP:
It’s well-known that Greeks are campus leaders and at the University of Minnesota this is no exception. In 2007, 11 of the 43 recipients of the President’s Student Leadership and Service awards were members of the Greek community, including two of the eight recipients of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association Awards. In addition, in 2007, 21% of Orientation Leaders and 42% of New Student Weekend Co-Chairs were fraternity and sorority members.

SCHOLARSHIP:
Scholarship is vital to students and therefore we make it one of our top priorities. Our fraternities and sororities provide tremendous academic resources and support for their members and this support shows. In 2006-07, Greek members earned a grade point average of 3.09 (All-Fraternity 3.01, All-Sorority 3.17) and students involved in the Greek community graduate at a higher rate than students who are not.

SERVICE:
Service is a main component of Greek life. Each fraternity and sorority has its own service project and they take pride in accomplishing what they set out to do. In addition, Greek-wide service activities, such as Feed My Starving Children, are also ways Greeks give back. Last year Greek members gave almost 25,000 hours in community service and raised over $114,000 for philanthropic organizations.

COMMUNITY:
The Greek Community makes the U of M feel like home. You can be yourself in our close-knit fraternities and sororities. You can get involved in the numerous activities Greeks participate in, including Rock the Row and Greek Weekend. You can make lifelong friends. You can, and you will, feel right at home.
